NER Hotel is a map-based website that aims to make the Hungarian tourism sector more transparent by uncovering the real owners of restaurants, hotels, and other leisure establishments. It is designed to help people spend their money more consciously when they visit the country. Find out, if the hotel you have chosen for a long weekend or the bar you have planned to visit for a night out has any political connections!

Hungarian public life has been characterized by the goal of the political elite to create an entrepreneurial class intertwined with it. The businesses that benefit from this process have also become unavoidable in the tourism sector: hundreds of hotels and restaurants have been acquired by politically connected individuals across the country. Citizen control over systemic patronage has been reduced, but as customers, we still have the opportunity to vote with our wallets against the further expansion of the politically backed entrepreneurial class.
